Football: Kelantan stumble

PERAK sent Malaysia Cup champions Kelantan reeling with a 4-0 win in Ipoh as Selangor took full advantage to go top of Super League standings yesterday.

Fadzli Saari struck in the 31st minute as Selangor edged Felda United 1-0 in Cheras to open a one-point lead over Perak, who moved past Kelantan into second place.

Kelantan, who had scored 11 goals in their last three games before meeting Perak, were shut out this time as the home side scored twice in the first half through Fazrul Hazli Kadri (fifth minute) and Shafiq Jamal (26th).

Akmal Rizal Ahmad Rakhli then struck against his former team in the 79th minute to make it 3-0 with his sixth league goal before Razali Umar Kandasamy scored Perak's fourth two minutes later.

Terengganu edged derby rivals T-Team 1-0 in Kuala Terengganu thanks to Abdul Hadi Yahya, who side-stepped Rosdi Talib before placing the ball beyond the reach of T-Team goalkeeper Syamsuri Mustafa two minutes after the break.

Kedah downed Negri Sembilan 2-0 in Paroi through goals by Azlan Ismail (62nd) and Baddrol Bakhtiar (90th) while Young Tigers ended a six-match winless run in the league after a 1-0 win over Kuala Lumpur in Shah Alam.

The winning goal was bundled home by Syahid Zaidon after Wan Zack Haikal Wan Nor's low pass across the six-yard box in the 16th minute eluded the KL defenders.

KL won a penalty in the 61st minute only for Fahrul Razi Kamaruddin to fire wide before Wan Zack nearly doubled Tigers' lead the next minute when his free-kick struck the crossbar.
