KUCHING: Awang Mahyan Awang Mohamad, the man behind the infamous ‘Ngap Sayot’ warcry is confident that the present state team is capable of reviving the glorious days of Sarawak football.
Awang Mahyan, who coached the state team from 1987 to 1990, applauded the four nil win against Pulau Pinang in the first match of the season and said the win would boost their spirits to lift the Premier League title in style.
“I am very proud to see that the Crocs have strong fighting spirits which led to the four- goal rout,” he said.
Currently in Labuan with his lawn bowls team competing in the national circuit, Awang Mahyan also said the players had shown good teamwork as well as high standard of discipline.
“I also believe that with the revival of the Ngap Sayot warcry, the state team will definitely have strong support and that will trigger the Crocs to give their best performance when they play at home,” he added.
He also noted that Sarawak would face stiff challenges in the league, but was optimistic that they would grab the bull by its horns especially with the strong support of our fans.
