Mat Zan not in danger of losing job

New Straits Times Online

THE fans are speculating Mat Zan Mat Aris' (pic) future as Terengganu coach after the state's former coach Ken Worden was spotted with paper and pen in hand during their match against Negri Sembilan at Sultan Ismail Nasiruddin Shah Stadium last week.

But Mat Zan who replaced Irfan Bakti as coach at the end of last season, is in no danger of losing his job as he has received the vote of confidence from the team management ahead of their FA Cup semi-final first-leg tie against Sime Darby FC in Kuala Terengganu today.
Terengganu FA president Datuk Che Mat Jusoh said Worden, who had a brief stint as Terengganu coach in 2009, was in town on a personal visit and not at the invitation of the association.
"We have faith in our personnel even after the 6-1 drubbing by Selangor and the 3-1 defeat to Tampines Rovers. We do not change coaches or players just because of a couple of bad results.
"It was just a coincidence that Worden was here at the stadium watching us beat Negri Sembilan and for all we know, he is just a fan supporting his former team."
Che Mat, who is also Terengganu team manager, said the hectic schedules since last month, have taken their toll on the players.
"But they did well in the 1-0 home win over Negri Sembilan before drawing 1-1 away in Paroi. Hopefully, they will be ready to face Sime Darby at home on Saturday (today)."
However, Mat Zan may not be able to field his strongest lineup against the Premier League outfit as defender Zubir Azmi and midfielder Ismail Faruqi Ashaari are suspended after receiving two yellow cards.
